Norfolk is renowned

fine city of Norwich is twenty miles to the west, with its Castle, medieval Cathedral, museums,
ancient cobbled streets, market and top class shopping. Twenty five miles north are
the popular resorts of Cromer and Sherringham. The seaside resort
of Great Yarmouth with its theatres, horse and dog race tracks, fun fairs and amusements
is Just 10 miles to the south.
Winterton-on-sea is ideally placed to
explore the Norfolk Coastline with it's quiet sandy beaches, picturesque
villages, bird sanctuaries and nature
reserves. Nature lovers will find
the Norfolk Broads irresistible.
Winterton-on-sea is a
very quiet seaside area which is loved
by nature lovers, cyclists and walkers alike. Winterton-on-Sea
thrives in its popularity as a holiday area for those wishing to get away
from it all. Its beaches and tranquillity are what make it so
special. The village church,
which claims to be the highest in Norfolk, is a superb example of
12th century building by the monks of St Benets Abbey. The beach is
renowned for excellent sea fishing, whilst good bags of coarse fish can be found
just 2 miles away at the start of the broads in West-Somerton. Cyclists will
appreciate the level terrain and the quiet roads to the north and north-west of

Winterton Valley
chalet park has its own
private access to mi
les of
delightful sandy beach and dunes and it's perfect for those with young
children, cycling or on foot as there are no
roads to cross. A leisurely
10 minute walk along the dunes or via a quiet track will bring you to the
village. Winterton-on-sea
has a small post-office, a well equipped general stores,
a
wet fish supplies (great for Cromer crab!) and a fish'n'chip shop. No trip
to the village would be complete without a visit to the 300 year old
Fisherman's
return. Here you will find excellent food and a range of Norfolk
beers with names like 'old nog' or 'great eastern'; and where children are welcome and there is a large garden to the rear.
lying a mile
or so along the dunes you'll find Hemsby, a typical English seaside haunt with
the kind of amusements and entertainment you'd expect to find at a small English
seaside town. Inland from the beach resort you'll find a spar shop and the
nearest chemist. Those looking for the bright lig
hts
and seaside shows should head along the coast to the market town of Great Yarmouth with its
golden mile, Marina, Pleasure Beach and Sea Life Centre.
For a more leisurely pastime, you might like to take a boat trip or even hire your own boat from the many boat yards scattered between Potter Heigham and Stalham. Latham's store in Potter Heigham sells just about everything imaginable and is situated in the heart of the Broads.

You can
explore the dunes and nature reserves at Winterton, drop into the Fisherman's
for a well earned pint and fabulous meal, take the kids to play pinball and
bingo in Hemsby, shop in Great Yarmouth or Norwich, or just sit outside the
chalet watching the world go by with a glass of wine and a BBQ sizzling. You set
the pace, do whatever you want at the pace you want - Its the perfect
place to chill out!
